How 3 kids found murdered Colonel Samaila Inusa’s body

Three children went to pluck cashew from a bush opposite Ajyaita Village in Kakau District of Chikun LGA of Kaduna State on Tuesday, but ran into a very unlikely sight - a corpse, which was later identified as that of the abducted military officer.

Ajyaita village is about 10 kilometres from Kaduna city centre, and lies along the Eastern By-pass which links the Abuja-Kaduna express way to the southern part of the state.

According to DailyTrust, the children had set out for the forest opposite the village on Tuesday morning and met the decomposing body by a narrow footpath leading to the forest.

Some elders told Daily Trust that the children then ran back home to reveal the unpleasant
information to a farmer who they earlier met  on their way to the forest. The man was planting yam seedlings at a farm. After hearing the children’s story, he rushed to the spot to confirm it, and he in turn, ran to inform the village head.

The village head informed the police authorities who deployed some policemen to accompany him to the spot. The police then called the army authorities who came to  inspect the corpse. Therein came the painful confirmation-it was the body of Colonel Samaila Inusa, who was kidnapped a few days earlier.
“The military came with photographs and confirmed that he was the one. There was no identity card found on him, but the military identified him as the missing colonel. The place he was found is a bush path that is accessible by a car. The bush is also close to a village called Kefinary,” an elder said.
Residents of Ajyaita refused to take DailyTrust's correspondents to the place, saying the place had been cordoned off by soldiers who asked people to stay away for now.
Daily Trust noticed some heavily armed policemen patrolling the area while villagers were busy with their work without any noticeable tension.

The colonel was buried yesterday at the Ribadu Cantonment, Old Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) site in Kaduna according to Islamic rites.
Draped in the national colours of green-white-green, the body arrived the old NDA cemetery around11.45am from the  44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna and was interred  at  noon after prayers at the NDA Juma’at mosque.
Relations, colleagues and friends couldn’t hold back tears, while some cried loudly.

The Chief Administrative Officer of the Nigerian Army, Major General Ado Abubakar, who represented the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, said it was a great loss to the Nigerian Army.

He described late colonel as a very committed officer who never joked with his responsibilities and announced that the army would do everything possible to get those behind the killing.
“Col. Inusa was a great soldier. We all feel the pains. Though death is inevitable and nobody can run away from it. I came in to represent my boss, the Chief of Army Staff because the Nigerian Army is mourning one of us that had really served this country greatly and we are not really happy the way he died, but whatever happened, we will see to the end of it all,” he said.
The colonel’s younger brother, Mustapha Inusa, described him as generous, saying, he was good to everyone, both within and outside his family.
“He was our family’s breadwinner and we will miss his dearly. Samaila is dead and he was buried in the presence of his parents, you know what it feels like for parents to bury their children, it is not a good feeling, his parents will really feel his absence because he was the one who used to cater for them,” he said.
Colonel Inusa, who was the Commander, 81 Battalion in Bulabulin, Damboa LGA of Borno State before he became Chief Instructor at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Jaji, Kaduna State, was honoured with a three- gun salute by officers.

Don Jazzy this afternoon playfully (or maybe he wasn't playing? lol) flirted with a girl on Twitter, (pictured above) asking for her to follow him back so he could DM her...and it kinda went from there. Some found it extremely hilarious and others just weren't sure what to make of his tweets. See them after the cut...

A video was posted by L eadership News some hours ago showing  the leader of the terrorist group Shekau allegedly asking his fellow members to surrender.

However there are reports that the video doesn't in any way show that Shekau is asking his members to surrender.

Some suggest that a man that wants to surrender would not carry arms on his shoulders as was seen on the video.

I Have Never Known Such Kindness

I will never stop being amazed by the kindness of this man I get to call my husband.

I have never known such kindness. I'm so, so thankful for it every day.

Here are some examples while traveling...

I realized some of my belongings were not in my bag (in the hotel).
They were right in the safe. Danny had already thought to gather my things.

I couldn't find my rash guard before our trip to the Galapagos.
Once there, Danny insisted that I get one. I was hesitant to spend the money. He wouldn't take it and kindly started to put his shoes on to head out to the shops and said he wanted to see what he could find.

We needed to sign some documents related to our condo in Brooklyn. While I was cozy on the bed, Danny jumped up without even a moment of hesitation and got the documents all ready to go and to fax them from the hotel.

Some examples while at home...

I blog.
Danny knows that cooking can get on the back burner for me and so he makes meal after meal after meal. He's made as many meals as I've written blog posts!

We were watching a movie.
Danny suggested that he massage my back. (Best thing ever!) He said we really should do that more often instead of just watching a movie. (See what I mean here?! :)

I needed to pick-up a delivery in El Centro, but had a dentist appointment at the same time.
Danny said cheerfully that he would LOVE to pick-up my delivery and was so happy to do it.

Oh, dear readers, I hope that all of us can find ways to be more KIND. I want to work on this more myself!! Whether it's a kind compliment or extra affection or picking up a surprise or preparing something in the kitchen or planning our Valentine's dinner out (pictured)- I've been more conscious of it lately. Because I am lucky to know there is nothing better than being on the receiving end of kindness.

33-yr-old man rapes 8-yr-old girl over N10 in Lagos

A 33-year-old man, identified as, Freedom Barryneh is in police net for allegedly raping his neighbour’s 8-year-old daughter in Ajegunle area of Lagos State.  The incident happened after the victim, approached the suspect and requested N10 from him to buy biscuit.

After giving her the money, Barryneh, who was watching a pornographic film when the minor entered his apartment, persuaded her to stay with him. While the movie was on, he allegedly told her to undress but she declined, saying her mother would beat her for doing so.

The suspect, however, allegedly resorted to force and allegedly dragged her into bed and raped her.

The girl opened up to her mother when she began to feel pains in her private parts.

The victim said, “I asked Mr. Freedom (Barryneh) to give me N10 to buy biscuit and he did. He took me inside his room. He was watching one video that was showing naked men and women. He asked me to remove my clothes, but I said my mother would beat me. He pushed me and put me on his bed. He removed my clothes and put his thing inside my private parts. I was afraid of telling my mother.”

Her mother, identified only as Ellen, reported the incident at the Ajegunle Police Division which led to the suspect’s arrest on March 3.

Punch saw that the results of medical tests conducted on the girl at the Ajeromi General Hospital, Lagos, stated, “Hymen broken with bruises around the infroitus.”

The result, which was signed by one Dr I.A. Dauda, also stated that she suffered from “whitish foul smelling vaginal discharge.”

Barryneh, who hails from Rivers State, admitted giving the girl N10 to buy biscuit, but denied raping her. He added that the allegation was an attempt to blackmail him.

He said, “I work with a private security outfit. She and her friends were playing when she came to me that she needed N10 to buy biscuit. She stood somewhere in my room waiting for the money. I was watching a love movie titled, ‘Naked Weapon’. It involved sex. I was surprised when her mother reported at the station that I raped her daughter. I never had sex with the girl. I only gave her the money.”

A police prosecutor, Woman Sergeant Francisca Okere, brought Barryneh before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court on two counts of rape.

Okere told the court that the offence contravened sections 137 and 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The charges read in part, “That you, Freedom Barryneh, sometime in August 2015, at about 14.30 hours on Akali Street, Ajegunle, Apapa, Lagos, in the Apapa Magisterial District, did penetrate sexually with your penis the private parts of an eight-year-old girl, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge before the presiding magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Adegite, who admitted him to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

While adjourning for today March 24, 2016, Adegite added that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must present to the court evidence of tax payments.

Brussels Airport baggage handler named as 'hero' after pulling wounded people to safety during attacks

A luggage handler at Brussel's airport has been called a hero after pulling people to safety during the attacks at the airport, instead of running for his life as many did.

Alphonse Lyouras was wrapping bags when he heard the first explosion. He didn't move until he heard the second explosion two minutes later at the departure area. Instead of running to safety, Alphonse ran towards where the explosion had occurred and started to help the injured.

Eye witnesses said he pulled seven wounded people to safety. He said he saw people whose legs were destroyed in the blast or had sustained awful injuries.
"I helped at least six or seven wounded people. We took out some bodies that were not moving. It was total panic everywhere," he told AFP "I saw people lying on the ground covered in blood who were not moving. At least six or seven people's legs were totally crushed. A lot of people lost limbs. One man had lost both legs and there was a policeman with a totally mangled leg."
